China vs India

I found a nice article, comparing China and India with the title China vs. India: A battle of ideas by Anand Giridharadas of International Herald Tribune. Let me share some excerpts from it

Shanghai was a bit like Mumbai until the Chinese government did what the Indian government cannot do: in the 1990s its planners, brushing aside any pre-existing claims, cleared the way for developers to construct in barely 10 years the gleaming, futurist metropolis of Pudong, across the river from the Bund

Meghnad Desai, an economist of Indian origin who is a member of Britain's House of Lords, wrote in a recent academic paper: "China will again become a viable Great Power, India may remain just a Great Democracy."

The article is worth reading, the link for it is on IHT

hmmm interesting, appreciate if you can give us some reference link..Yes, i agree to you somewhat about the long term impact of the policy, however article was in regard to India, in terms of infrastructure they can learn a lot, India is up high in terms of corruption. we cant say that you cant learn from other's mistake ;).as we dont have that much time to make all the mistake ourselves...so what you say can also be taken as learning.....
